AAC/AAAC cables refer to electrical conductors that are made of aluminium. AAC stands for All Aluminium Conductors, while AAAC stands for All Aluminium Alloy Conductors. These types of conductors are commonly used in overhead power transmission and distribution, where high tensile strength is required, but the weight of the cable should be minimised.

AAC cables are composed of a stranded aluminium conductor, which offers high electrical conductivity, low cost, and excellent resistance to corrosion. They are commonly used in medium voltage power lines, because of its advantages such as light weight, easy installation, and low cost per unit length. AAC conductors are also used as a core for ACSR conductors, which is a conductor with a steel core.

Alternatively, AAAC cables are made of stranded aluminium alloy, which has higher strength and better corrosion resistance than pure aluminium conductors. AAAC cables can withstand higher environmental temperatures and have better overall performance in tropical climates. They are often used in high voltage power transmission and distribution, as they offer improved mechanical properties and higher ampacity ratings compared to AAC cables.
