Tough, resistant and essential: Precision wires for Chemical Processing

Share

We may not think too deeply about the origin of many of the products we use every day – from household cleaners and pharmaceutical products to fertilisers, fuel for our vehicles and more, the origin point is rooted in chemical processing.

The chemical processing industry is vast, with thousands of companies converting raw materials such as oil, natural gas, air, water, minerals and metals into over 100 000 different products.

It’s a volatile, high-intensity environment with many factors that challenge materials used in the processing of these chemicals, and a core component of this process is the wires and cables within the plants.

Due to the harshness of the environment, cables need to be flexible, and highly resistant to oils, fats, acids, bases and other harsh materials.

They also need to be suited to their specific application, with some needing screening to ensure protection against electrical interference and to ensure consistent transmission of signals.

To meet the stringent parameters required for chemical processing, particularly the high heat and pressure variables, wires are made of the highest performance alloys, typically nickel- or steel-based.

These wires are typically used in high heat, corrosion and pressure environments to make springs, clips, component pressings, special purpose valve springs, heat treatment and recovery components and more.

At Knight Precision Wires we supply a wide range of wire materials and products specifically for the chemical processing industry. Find out more, contact us on 01707 645261 or wire.sales@knight-group.co.uk.
