Expanded uses of Titanium Strip

Titanium Alloy

Titanium Alloy

Commercially Pure Titanium grades have outstanding resistance to seawater and salt-water attack and are used in desalination plant, seawater cooled condensers and other marine related applications.

The use of titanium strip has expanded in recent years to include applications in nuclear power plants, food processing plants, oil refinery heat exchangers, marine components and medical prostheses.

Joining

Fusion welding of the commercially pure titanium grades is successful when completely protected from oxygen and nitrogen. Resistance spot welding can be done without protection and using similar parameters to stainless steels.

Advantages of Titanium Strip

  • Low density
  • Resistance to corrosion and erosion-corrosion
  • Very thin, conductive oxide surface film
  • Smooth surface that limits adhesion of foreign materials
  • Surface promotes drop-wise condensation
